Make a flyover video
In the 3D view, the film strip beside Fly the Route opens Flyover Video. Choose the shape and the camera’s height, then Make Video:
- Shape: Vertical (1080 × 1920, for stories and reels), Square (1080 × 1080, for a feed) or Horizontal (1920 × 1080, for YouTube, a talk or a computer screen).
- Camera Height: Low, Medium or High, as when you fly the route yourself.
The footer says how long the video will be: about 26 seconds for a walk, longer with the distance, and just over a minute for a ride of 75 km or more. A bar shows the progress; Cancel stops it. Then the video plays in the sheet, and Share Video sends it wherever the share sheet offers (Save Video to Photos, Messages, Mail, Files, or an app such as Instagram or Strava); on the Mac Save… saves it as a file too.
What is in it
Section titled “What is in it”- It opens on the whole ride, glides down to the start, flies the route behind the rider, and rises to the whole ride again at the end.
- The ground is always our shaded relief, never Apple’s imagery, whichever look the 3D view shows; the 3D view switches back when the video is done.
- At the top, the file’s name with the ride’s distance and climbing. At the bottom, the elevation profile with the part flown filled in, the climbs as bars in their category’s colors, and how far and how high the rider is. Under it, “GPX Explore” at the left and the ObjectGraph name at the right.
The video is an MP4 (H.264). Making one takes a few seconds to a minute, depending on the length and the device.
