Troubleshooting

The profile or the terrain does not appear. Check the connection; heights are fetched from our server. If Fetch Elevation as You Draw is off, choose Get Elevation (⌘E). A message in the panel says if the server could not be reached or was busy.

“No route found between these points; drew a straight line.” Apple Maps has no way between those two points in the chosen mode, often because the trail is not in its data. Add a point in between on the trail, try Walking instead of Cycling, or keep the straight leg.

Tapping the map does nothing. Select is chosen; it never adds points. Choose Add Points.

The slope colours start too high or too low. Change Color Slopes From in Settings ▸ Terrain.

3D is dimmed or shows nothing. 3D needs the terrain of the selected shape; select an area or a path and wait for the heights to arrive.

A GPX file was not overwritten. On purpose: a file that is not a .geoelevation document opens as a new document, and the first save asks where to keep it.
