Folders and the layer list
Editing needs KML Explore Pro.
While editing, the layer list changes the file too. Right-click a row (touch and hold on iPhone and iPad) for:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rename… | A new name for the folder or placemark. |
| New Folder | A folder named Folder 1 (the next number free) inside the selected folder, or right after the selected feature. |
| Duplicate | A copy right after it, with new ids. |
| Delete | Removes it, and everything in it for a folder. |
| Edit Points… | The Points table for a placemark. |
New Folder is also in the edit bar’s + menu, and on the Mac in Draw ▸ New Folder (⇧⌘N). On the Mac, Delete in the list deletes the selected feature while editing, and Edit ▸ Delete Selection (⌘⌫) works from anywhere.
Move by dragging
Section titled “Move by dragging”Drag a row:
- onto a folder to put it inside, at the end;
- onto any other row to put it just before that one, in that row’s folder.
A folder can’t go inside itself. Dragging works only while editing, so looking at a file never rearranges it.
Where new things go
Section titled “Where new things go”A placemark you draw, a found place you add and a new folder go into the selected folder, or right after the selected feature in its folder. With nothing selected, they go into the file’s top folder. Select the folder first to draw straight into it.
Every change here is one step of undo.
