The file opens, but the map is empty
Section titled “The file opens, but the map is empty”- Everything is switched off. Some files hide their layers, and your own switches are remembered per file. Choose Map ▸ Show the File’s Layers, or right-click (touch and hold) the top folder in the layer list and choose Show Everything Inside.
- A search is on. While the layer list’s search has text, the map shows only the matches. Clear the search.
- The map is somewhere else. Press Fit All.
- The placemarks have no place. A placemark without a shape is listed with No geometry, and network links aren’t fetched, so a file that is only a link shows nothing.
